Cheap food and drink may no longer be available to British lawmakers with Prime Minister David Cameron deciding to cut down on taxpayer-funded subsidies.

According to reports, Cameron ordered the move to save 500,000 pounds, but the prices would still be cheaper than in many High Street bars.

The cost of a pint in Commons bars would now rocket up from 2.20 to 2.90 pounds from Monday.

The 650 MPs would also have to dig deeper for everything from a chocolate bar to a lavish lunch in Parliament's many restaurants.

"We're braced for quite a bit of moaning when MPs return for the new term," News of The World quoted an official, as saying.

Last year, Commons catering facilities cost taxpayers 6.1 million pounds, including subsidies which enabled MPs to enjoy a bottle of champagne for just 26 pounds. (ANI)
