Burlington Vermont  --  July 20, 2006

A Shelburne man has been arrested for his SIXTH drunk driving charge.

Police say Ricky Mashia, 49, was speeding and swerving when they pulled him over Wednesday shortly before 8 PM on I-189 in South Burlington.

Police say his blood-alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.

Mashia denied the charge at a Thursday arraignment in Burlington. Bail was set at $500 cash.

Court records indicate Mashia has five prior DWI convictions he accrued since 1987.

The new charge could get him up to 7 years in prison.
