Israeli soldiers kill rock wielding youth
    Herald Globe
    Saturday 20th March, 2010

A Palestinian youth was killed over the weekend in clashes with Israeli troops.

One of his friends was seriously wounded in the clash, which occurred when youths and troops came together in the occupied West Bank.

Nablus Hospital announced a 16-year-old died Saturday after being shot in the chest by Israeli security forces.

Another 17-year-old protester was shot in the head and is still in hospital.

The shooting occurred when stones were thrown at Israeli soldiers near Nablus.

It is believed the soldiers used riot control weapons and tear gas to disperse the Palestinians who had begun to approach a nearby Jewish settlement.

Clashes have been happening for some time over objections to Jewish settlers being settled there.

Palestinians in the area have long claimed that Jewish settlers have been trying to seize a local water well.
