AAA has awarded its Four Diamond rating to eight restaurants in New Mexico.
The award winners represent "superior personal service, first-class amenities and impressive surroundings," according to a news release. The awards were given out during the 2006 New Mexico Restaurant Association's 10th annual Hospitality Industry Awards held at the Hyatt Regency on April 23.
Restaurants earning the honor include Ranchers Club of New Mexico in Albuquerque; Momentitos de la Vida in Arroyo Seco, Rancho de San Juan Restaurant in Española, Restaurant Jezebel in Ruidoso; Fuego, Geronimo and The Old House restaurants in Santa Fe and Joseph's Table in Taos.
This year marks the seventh consecutive year that The Old House has received an award and the first for Restaurant Jezebel in Ruidoso. The others have been recognized at least twice before.
"Only establishments that meet the extensive quality criteria required to become AAA Approved receive an AAA Diamond rating," says Brenda Yager, AAA New Mexico's public and government affairs manager, in the release.
About 3 percent of the nearly 25,000 AAA Rated restaurants were awarded the four diamond designation for this year. AAA (formerly called the American Automobile Association) is a nonprofit travel and automobile association.
