The building containing the offices of a neo-Nazi group in Greece, as well as an adjoining hotel, and the street outside the building, were evacuated Friday just minutes before a bomb planted in a shoe box exploded, causing significant damage to property but no injuries.
Police say that an unidentified caller contacted a local newspaper 25 minutes before the bomb, on a timer, was set to detonate.
The neo-Nazi group Chryssi Avghi, have offices in a downtown office block, and it was this office block that the bomb targeted. Police say the device was of moderate power.
The shoebox was placed just outside the offices of the group on the fifth floor.
No one has claimed responsibility for the blast.
Chryssi Avghi has accused of carrying out attacks on immigrants and anti-racist militants. The group has campaigned extensively in recent months with demonstrations, rallies and protests in central Athens.
